Free Instructional Art Videos you will love!

Free Instructional Art Videos are a great way to learn painting and other skills if you do not have access to an instructor or reference books. I find it beneficial to read a book of an artist then watch a video that demonstrates their process. The reading and viewing seem to strengthen the learning process.

When I was growing up, creating art was a mystery. There were few books on the subject on how to approach painting, but plenty of museum books featuring masterpieces. I kept asking myself how do they do this?  Most of my art training came through junior high and high school, in which I was blessed with two great teachers. To supplement my thirst for art knowledge, I would watch PBS painting videos. Today young artists are fortunate to have a plethora of books and YouTube videos at their disposal.

I have always enjoyed watching artists paint, sculpt and create crafty things. When I was a child around the age of 5, I was introduced to painting by an elderly neighbor who lived across the street. I would drop in and visit while she painted and was intrigued by the process of creating an image in paint. When I was in grade school, I remember painting by number, the paint pans corresponded to the number on the cardboard image. If I look hard enough, my mother probably still has these early masterpieces tucked away in her home. As I became older, Public Broadcast Station aired oil painting with Bob Ross and Watercolor Painting with Frank Clarke which I would record and then paint along. We all start somewhere to become inspired, now you know the rest of the story........
